This paper discusses the interaction between architectural development of coal industry and space structure in Jingtung. It draws on the specific case of the conversion in Shihti Coal Pit of Jingtung Area as a key role of coal production in the period from 1895 to 1950s, followed by the analysis and comparison of corresponding space construction. The main findings of this study are: space characters can be highly identified from building the coal industry; space structure is influenced by topography form which shows as linear parallel in Jingtung; space function can be classified in three; local settlement can be determined by industrial progress which highly influences the local development; the space construction is analyzed by the architecture and infrastructure.
