Nowadays western medicine, main stream of Taiwan's medicine system, still wins certain trust from people. But it could not substitute Chinese traditional medicine all. As the national health system has included Chinese traditional medicine, its demand gradually increases. While Chinese-Westem-combined medicine clinic establish one after another and Chinese trad medicine gets more popularity in Taiwan, the knowledge, belief, behavior intention , health utility and the determinants of Chinese traditional medicine suppose the needed information for developing Chinese traditional medicine, health education and policy. Between August and December in 1995 questionnaires were used to survey residents in 40 sections of Peitou district, Taipei City (above 30 years old). 2328 questionnaires were interviewed and 1085 were valid, representing 47 % the responding questionnaires.
