The primary reason to establish the public market is to satisfy citizens’ daily purchase needs. However, we found the public market’s existence is disintegrating after visiting several public markets throughout the country. The reasons causing this are due to a progressive society affecting people’s shopping habits, while new businesses and the average consumer’s behavior have changed. This makes the primary purpose for establishing public markets meaningless.
This research will find basic problems of the public market through assembling the relevant references. Taking Peitou Market for example, we will examine the market orientation in the city plans, the original opinions of establishing the market and the impact from outside vendors. We also will investigate the inner and external business management models as a based analysis for the research. It is very difficult to solve all of the problems of the public market. Therefore, this research tries to approach the issues from a different angle to review the condition of the inner management in the market, to suggest that enhancing potentials of the whole market by combining with external business. We anticipate to provide with a solution for the Peitou Public Market by combining the market and its external environment. Additionally, we suggest that making and examining market plans should depend on its characteristics and surroundings to allow us to make suitable market development plans for the future.
