The hot spring recreation activity has become one important leisure activity of the people since there are so many hot spring resources in Taiwan. However, little research is concerned about the safety issues of hot spring recreation activity, and some accidents have happened indeed. Hence, the main aim of this study is to investigate the tourists’ and the managers’ cognitions about recreation safety within hot spring areas. Two categories of ‘physical environment’ and ‘recreation behavior’ are used to assess in the Pei-tou Hot Spring Area. 324 effective questionnaires are collected, and then the data were analyzed with the SPSS Statistic Software.
