The purpose of this study is to understand the self-concept and behavioral disturbances of senior graders in elementary school, and examine the effects of differences in gender, grade, academic performance, parents’ education background, and patents’ occupation on students’ self-concept and behavioral disturbances. Also, it discusses the correlation between students’ self-concept and behavioral disturbances, and proposes a predicting model for the development of behavioral disturbances.
This study sampled 511 senior graders from 9 elementary schools in Xinyi District, Taipei City. The research tools were “Scale of self-concept for elementary school students”, and “Scale of behavioral disturbances”. The data were analyzed with percentage test, frequency distribution, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s method, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple regression analysis.
