The purposes of this research were to investigate the differences of the schoolchild of the social extracurricular book reading and the learning attitude of social studies and the grades of social studies. It analyzed their background difference including grade level, gender, parental education level, parental occupation level, as well as affecting factors in the relationship between the reading interests in social studies, the attitude of social studies learning and the academic achievement. Then we used self-made questionnaire of reading interests in social studies and the attitude scale of social studies learning and collect the data of senior students in Taipei City Datong Dist elementary schools by cluster sampling method. After receive all questionnaires and attitude scales, we analyzed those data by methods of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test, one-way ANOVA, stepwise regression, factor analysis, correlation analysis and got the following results for the reference of cartographic education.
